and how are you doing on this warm, overcast monday afternoon? i hope you had a delightful weekend and i hope that you remembered to shower this morning. and while in the shower, i hope you didnt slip, fall, and hurt your genitals.
* big sports weekend. tiger won the memorial in dramatic fashion. roger federer finally won at rolland garros and completed his career grand slam. the crew beat kansas city 2-0. the lakers took a two game lead in the NBA finals. brett farve has shoulder surgery, meaning he is almost certainly coming back to the vikings. good stuff.
* big movie weekend for yours truly. i saw both "the hangover" and "up", the former being absolutely hilarious and the latter being somewhat funny. i read this morning that a sequel to "the hangover" has already been given the green light - so thats a major plus. zach galifanopasnuffalupagus was ridiculously funny. for more of zach, click here and here and here one more time.
* a huge team secret falcon congrats must go out to rob and jeanie who had their first child (pictured above) on saturday night. yay! friends having babies on purpose! i still cant believe i live in a world where women are having sex with rob and not pressing charges afterwards. its staggering to even think about.
for robs thoughts on being a father, please click here and here. good times.
* did everyone hear about the two american journalists who were sentenced to twelve years in a north korean prison? and am i the only one who isnt all that crazy surprised? i mean, these two idiots were illegally in the batshit craziest country on the face of the earth, and they got caught. what did they honestly expect would happen.
i sincerely hope that they are released as soon as possible, but i dont consider this as radically news worthy as most everyone else seems to. call me when kim jong il shows up in kansas city and starts kidnapping bitches. until then, people who take their life in their own hands by illegally crossing into north korea are probably going to continue to end up in forced labor camps. the end.
* for poops and giggles, i thought i would throw some numbers at your face right quick. here is a rundown of ohio states all-time records against each big ten team currently in the conference.
vs Northwestern Wildcats 59-14-1 (.804)
vs Minnesota Gophers 41-7 (.854)
vs Wisconsin Badgers 52-17-5 (.736)
vs Illinois Fighting Illini 61-30-3 (.665)
vs Michigan Wolverines 42-57-6 (.400)
vs Michigan State Spartans 27-11 (.711)
vs Penn State Nittany Lions 12-11 (.522)
vs Indiana Hoosiers 65-9-4 (.859)
vs Purdue Boilermakers 37-12-2 (.745)
vs Iowa Hawkeyes 44-14-3 (.746)
a couple of thoughts...
-wow, indiana has been bad for a long, long time.
-the michigan numbers, as usual, are misleading. the series started in 1897 and the buckeyes didnt pick up a win until 1919. as a matter of fact, through the first 24 games of the series, michigan held a 19-3-2 advantage. so, yeah - if michigan fans want to get excited about beating ohio state in the 1800s, let 'em get excited. they need something to be happy about.
-looking at the eleven losses against michigan state makes me want to vomit, as i know that they 1998 game is amongst them. still not over that game. probably never will be.
-the last two times ohio state lost to minnesota was 2000 and 1981. the year i graduated from high school and the year i was born. i dont know, i just think thats funny. minnesota sucks.
-the stats against penn state are somewhat misleading since they joined conference play in 1993 and the bucks had played them 7 times before that, racking up a 2-5 record in those games. so, since penn state joined the big ten, ohio state is 10-6 against their punk asses.
-between 1952 and 1980, ohio state went 27-2-1 against wisconsin. since 1992 ohio state is 7-5-1 against wisconsin. just trying to get you pumped up for the only good game other than USC at the 'shoe this season. i mean, new mexico state is awesome, sorry.
-ohio state won their first 6 games against purdue, outscoring the boilers 117-0.
-the buckeyes have only lost to the nerds once since 1971, which was a six point loss in the 2004 season that we all want to pretend never happened. jeff backus is a traitor.
-iowa has had some good teams recently, but has only beaten ohio state twice in the last twenty years. LOL OMG POWNAGE
bye.
